I’m not back yet but I couldn’t resist heading into school today to witness firsthand the great work our 8th graders have done through their NGO work. I’ve been listening to their speeches via their blogs which are on my Netvibes page. Last week I came into school to briefly listen to the founder of the Shanghai Chapter of Roots and Shoots as she discussed NGOs in China with the kids. What a wonderful opportunity for them!
The students created wikis to organize their information as they worked in small groups in and out of school around topics such as desertification, deforestation, global warming, and alternative fuels. I listened to students tell me about goals for their NGO and plans for implementation. The student created podcast turned out very well and is definitely worth a listen!
